We are redeveloping a historic marketplace site at the heart of Caerphilly through a joint partnership between Caerphilly County Borough Council and Codi, delivering an ambitious mixed‑use scheme that will reinvigorate this key town centre site.
As part of the wider Caerphilly 2035 masterplan, the site is identified as a major regeneration opportunity intended to act as a catalyst for further development and investment. Its strategic importance has secured support from Welsh Government’s Town Regeneration Fund, recognising the project’s role in strengthening the town centre.
The proposals bring forward a vibrant mixed‑use development comprising 72 mixed tenure apartments above new commercial space. Active frontage is created along Pentrebane Street, leading into a new public courtyard with a pedestrian link through to Clive Street, improving permeability and supporting footfall.
Across this high‑density urban site, roofscapes are carefully utilised to maximise amenity provision. At first floor level, the commercial roof accommodates a generous residential terrace and a landscaped deck, providing high quality outdoor space separated from the public courtyard below.
Following successful public consultation events and a positive Welsh Design Panel Review, the scheme has now been submitted for planning and is programmed to start on site later this year.
