
The centre provides a 50m competition pool with an hydraulic floor, learning pool, sports hall, fitness gym, cafe and community room. The project was completed at a cost of £10m in a little under 2 years.
The challenge was to stitch this huge building into the small-scale context of the conservation area. This was achieved by the manipulation of the form in relation to the slope of the site. Solving this problem won us the competition and has provided the community with a valuable new facility.
