Childs Sulzmann Architects have transformed a local authority swimming pool in Gloucestershire into a leisure centre comparable with the best facilities in the private sector
The pool, built in the ‘80s in the centre of the historic market town of Dursley, has been significantly extended and upgraded to create a dance and fitness studio, a new gym and café, a reconfigured entrance and reception and separate wet and dry locker areas.
The development has been carefully designed to seamlessly integrate the new and old elements of the centre, bringing it all together with a cohesive contemporary look.
In addition to developing the architectural and interior design concepts and obtaining planning permission, Childs+Sulzmann also project managed the development.
Nick Childs, Design Director, commented “Dursley is a lovely traditional market town that has a lot to offer and this development has added to this by giving the locals access to a really top class facility.”
