Childs Sulzmann were commissioned by Crest Nicholson as part of the Harbourside development, to design a community facility to serve the emerging neighbourhood of apartment dwellers by the docks.

This robust little building transforms its context and generates a significant focal point. Conceived originally as an urban village hall over a café / bar, the upstairs room is constantly in use and the ground floor is home to a very successful commercial brasserie.

The materials were selected to reflect the dockside location and reference boat clubs and marinas. The elegant metalwork which adds so much to the quality of the building, was a collaboration with the Cornish artist Dail Behennah.
